Wonder Woman #36 Review

By M. Finch and D. Finch

Wonder woman 36 is a fresh new start for Diana! The previous run was fantastic but this is a book  i have been waiting for. The new team of Finch and Finch have already given us a very different WW book, and i couldn't be more happy about it. The last team delved into the mythology of the Amazons, and Greek gods, this time around were getting more personal with Diana. Were also going to see more of her on our world. This issue shows the JL dealing with a catastrophic enviomental issue, and WW gets sent right into the mix. We get a fantastic fight scene with WW and Swamp Thing, which was really a misunderstanding, but it was a beautiful scene none the less. Diana is clearly bothered by something here, and it isnt just all the lives being lost. Somethings going on with her, and most of the issue is Diana acting irrationaly and being short with everyone, acting out physically and not thinking things through.

The art is top notch, and right up my alley. This team has my attention 100%. Go get this book!

^^ incredible splash page!

Supergirl #36 review

SuperGirl #36 Clark aka super jerk

Supergirl has been a title that I've had a special place for, for a long time now. And the new creative team has started off this new direction in a decent way. Since the New 52 universe started, Kara has been struggling to find her place on earth, the new team seems to be tackling that front and center. Kara is now a Barista in a coffee shop. Its fun seeing her struggle with rudimentary tasks, since she is supergirl after all. I hope this continues in some way, its refreshing.

The one thing that bothered me is Clark visiting her. At first i was excited to see Clark showing an interest in catching up with his cousin. But the joy was short lived for me. In the past, every time they cross paths Clark aggressively tries to tell Kara what she should do, and it always ends with Kara telling Clark that he should leave her alone and let her live and make her own decisions. And that is exactly how this exchange went. It left me disappointed that this new team just said what all the other teams did before them, all over again and its getting very tired. Dc is forcing this Kara Clark "drama" and its been going on for far too long.

Other than that i have all positive things to say, the art is beautiful and perfect for a Supergirl book. The new direction seems to be a bright one. Kara is abducted by what seems to be some kind of aliens and they are looking to recruit her for some kind of "super academy". Its completely out of left field but i liked it, if its going to give Kara something to focus on and some place to be and make a difference, im all for it. And the surprise on the last page is interesting, if left me a bit confused since it was 100 percent random, but hey at this point im just happy to be enjoying supergirl again.
