Wonder Woman #36 Review

By M. Finch and D. Finch

Wonder woman 36 is a fresh new start for Diana! The previous run was fantastic but this is a book  i have been waiting for. The new team of Finch and Finch have already given us a very different WW book, and i couldn't be more happy about it. The last team delved into the mythology of the Amazons, and Greek gods, this time around were getting more personal with Diana. Were also going to see more of her on our world. This issue shows the JL dealing with a catastrophic enviomental issue, and WW gets sent right into the mix. We get a fantastic fight scene with WW and Swamp Thing, which was really a misunderstanding, but it was a beautiful scene none the less. Diana is clearly bothered by something here, and it isnt just all the lives being lost. Somethings going on with her, and most of the issue is Diana acting irrationaly and being short with everyone, acting out physically and not thinking things through.

The art is top notch, and right up my alley. This team has my attention 100%. Go get this book!

^^ incredible splash page!

Supergirl #36 review

SuperGirl #36 Clark aka super jerk

Supergirl has been a title that I've had a special place for, for a long time now. And the new creative team has started off this new direction in a decent way. Since the New 52 universe started, Kara has been struggling to find her place on earth, the new team seems to be tackling that front and center. Kara is now a Barista in a coffee shop. Its fun seeing her struggle with rudimentary tasks, since she is supergirl after all. I hope this continues in some way, its refreshing.

The one thing that bothered me is Clark visiting her. At first i was excited to see Clark showing an interest in catching up with his cousin. But the joy was short lived for me. In the past, every time they cross paths Clark aggressively tries to tell Kara what she should do, and it always ends with Kara telling Clark that he should leave her alone and let her live and make her own decisions. And that is exactly how this exchange went. It left me disappointed that this new team just said what all the other teams did before them, all over again and its getting very tired. Dc is forcing this Kara Clark "drama" and its been going on for far too long.

Other than that i have all positive things to say, the art is beautiful and perfect for a Supergirl book. The new direction seems to be a bright one. Kara is abducted by what seems to be some kind of aliens and they are looking to recruit her for some kind of "super academy". Its completely out of left field but i liked it, if its going to give Kara something to focus on and some place to be and make a difference, im all for it. And the surprise on the last page is interesting, if left me a bit confused since it was 100 percent random, but hey at this point im just happy to be enjoying supergirl again.

Supergirl #28 Review

Crip walking in the wrong hood!

What could possibly be more scary than a kryptonian with a power ring? NOTHING. Untill this issue, Ive been unsure of the direction dc has been taking supergirl. For the entire run of the new 52 thus far supergirl has been fighting to find her place on earth. Everywhere she goes she is either not trusted, attacked or just misunderstood. Clearly all of that has been a build up for this issue and the red/green lantern flip book. Kara becoming a red lantern and exploring the universe with Guy Gardner's newly reformed sect of the red lanterns all of the sudden has become such an exciting thought. It will give validity to the fact that Kara has been so up and down this whole run, especially emotionally, shes been full of rage since the start of the run and that's highlighted in this issue. It SUCKS to be Lobo in this issue, kara just whips his butt this entire issue, i really was digging seeing her finally just let loose and show that no one can mess with her when she is mad. Im also really  digging the art in this issue. Supergirl seems to be a loved or hated title, and right now im loving it and i can't see what is going to happen. Will Kara join Guy, or Atrocitus?

BatGirl #28 Review

BatGirl #28
Silver...eh VanHelsing ?!

Hi ho Silverrrrrrrrrrr....sorry lol Silver is a new vampire hating Gothamite! The most interesting part about him is the fact that he is a bit crazy, he thinks the Bat family are blood suckers of the night. He even sees BatGirl, in his distorted vision, sucking the blood of some bad guys that Strix put a beating on, but this guy is truly off of his rocker! The back bone of the issue is that Strix and Batgirl are strolling around town looking for a little girl that has been kid napped. What kept me interested as i was reading through the panels was Silver, he is clearly a man of money who has a mansion and drives around in nice cars but why is he convinced that the bat family are vampires? What is his back story? Why does he seem like he is absolutley insane? Inside silvers mansion he has a wall labeled Freedom Fighters with pictures of the joker, harvey dent and the penguin, so this guy has to be a bad guy, but he seems to think hes doing right?! Im confused, im not sure if i like it or not, i dont know if i want to know more about him or i want him to go away.

Over all it was a solid issue, i like seeing batgirl and strix running around town getting into all sorts of situations and mishaps, but im not completely sold on Silver. I also LOVE the cover art, i bought this issue on the strength of that.

X Force #1 Review

X Force 1 in short, is a uninspired bore fest. I was excited to buy this book, who doesn't want to read about some crazy mutant action? If this was the only mutant marvel book out there i dont think i would care to much for them. The story arc that is started, isn't interesting at all, its bland and not written at a level we would expect from a marvel book. The art is good at times, but i find the textures and colors to be the opposite of what attracts my eye. I wanted to love this book, as a kid i loved Cable and i thought i would be re living some of those memories, but i didn't. I found it hard to even pay attention to what i was reading because my mind kept wondering off and i found my self re reading the speech bubbles over and over. I could barley make it to the last page, and when i did i sighed in relief. I'm going to go re read She Hulk #1 to make up for this time lost.

Deadpool #23 Review

C'mon Deadpool i didn't mean to forget your money!

Why would anyone who knows Deadpool, not pay him the money they owe him?! He's only the best merc in all of the Marvel U, he will surely give me a break...right??.... WRONG! This issue is all about revenge and justice for deadpool. This issue delivers everything an avid deadpool fan wants to see in an issue. It remains playful, with all the playful bantering between bad guys, and Deadpool arguing with the lady in his head, and murder, lots and lots of murder. In the end this is a typical deadpool book, but i don't say that in a bad way, its entertaining from the first panel to last. If you want a straight to the point book to read with great art, action, murder and blood, swords and well done humor, this is your book.

Rouges Rebellion #5 review

You can't go Weather Wizard, we need you!

Another outstanding issue of RR! IF anyone has had any doubts about this book, pick up #5 and give it a shot, i promise that you will love it. The Trickster continues to make me like him more with every panel. His smart mouth in filled with golden one liners and zingers, even in the face of death, i cant get enough of it! This book is so well written. In my opinion Buccellato is up there with Scott Snyder as one of DC's biggest talents, he is making the reader really care about this gang of less than spectacular crooks. Quick and Atomica are after our guys, and they really just want to kill everything they possibly can. Johnny Quick is quite possibly the most annoying comic character next to Deadpool! But his interactions with the Rogues are filled with witty exchanges and fun fights to see play out. As fun as this book is there definitely is a dark undertone to it, it is taking place during forever evil after all. Another great issue of Rogues Rebellion........ We love you Trickster!!!!

And wait.... Grodd??!!!! I'm scared for our gang of almost good bad guy crooks!

Rogues rebellion #4 Review

 Trickster... You DA MAN!!

Rogues Rebellion continues to be one of the best things to come out of Forever Evil. I have always been a big fan of the Flash Rogues gallery, but this new 52 incarnation of them has made me fall in love with them. As a reader, you often find yourself sympathetic towards these guys. They are the worlds most scary villains......... with hearts of gold. The rogues have defied the Crime Syndicate and they have put a bounty on their heads, that means every bad guy in town is looking for them. Mr. Freeze and Clay face seek to use weather wizard to try and freeze the entire town, but the rogues love their town, if anyone is gonna destroy it, its going to be them! Clearly that fight doesn't go so well, and someone ends up sacrificing them self to save his friends life, read it to find out who!

The Trickster is quickly becoming a charecter i love and care about dearly! He brings fun into everything hes doing, and his rocket boots are the ish! The Trickster shines in this issue! And the last few pages are comic GOLD! Please guys go and buy this book, i need more Rogues! I want to be reading a Rogue book for a long time!

The art is awesome, and Buccellato continues to be one of DC's most consistently awesome writers. I can tell he is having a blast writing this book, i need more DC books with this kind of a fun factor. Im praying to Thor and tom Cruise that my Rogues get their own title after forever evil.

Winter Soldier #1 Review ... A Bitter March

The man with the star on his arm.

The Winter Soldier is the only man that can have a red star on his arm, and i wouldn't dare laugh or even look his way. I almost didn't pick up this book but since I'm reading all the Invaders i feel like i owed it to my readers to cover it, I'm glad i picked it up. This issue really did for me, its filled with aggressive skiing ,spying, breaking and entering, wrist cross bows, Nazi bashing, cool green hydra suits, Nick Fury getting punched in the face, and yes the man with the red star on his arm. I absolutely loved the playful banter between Nick and Shen, they make wagers during the mission  that add a bit of fun to the fact that they are a what would be suicide mission if anyone else were to be attempting to infiltrate the Hydra mansion.

Rick Remender knocks this issue out of the park, he really understands everyone in this book. He builds a suspenseful stage for Bucky to make his entrance, and its a firework worthy appearance. I dig the spy elements going on with Nick and Shen, also i love the mystery of whats going on with Bucky, because he doesn't seem to be on the good guy side right now, which i love. The art and colors were good, i wasn't blown away but i did like the art. The pencil work is sharp, i think that i would appreciate some color work that is a bit more exciting, atleast for my pallet.

Pick this book up right now before your shop runs out, its that good.

She-Hulk #1 Review

    She-Hulk #1

Soule, Pulido,Vincente

She Hulk starts out with a bang! This is the perfect book for anyone to pick up and read. It's humorous, playful and beautiful to look at. This is my introduction to Jennifer Walters aka She-hulk, and writer Charles Soule did a magnificent job at delivering a fun filled, intelligent and witty first issue. At no point reading this book did i say to myself, "this is corny" or "when is she gonna kick some butt?" Jen finds her self battling Tony Starks lawyers in court in order to help a woman whose family was wronged by the Avengers company. We get to see Jen kick some robot butt, and destroy a ridiculously expensive table with a simple flick of her finger! The art in the book is absolutely perfect for the playful light heart tone of the book, i found myself staring at some panels for a few minutes just taking in the beautiful color work.

She-Hulk seems to be in very good hands and i can't wait to see where this creative team takes us. I enjoy seeing Jen in her day job as an attourney and i can't wait to see if the writers take her out of her daily routines and out in to the world to kick some super villan butt. Even if this book turns out to be more along the lines of Hawkeye's everyday life outside the avengers, i will be more than happy.

Black Widow #1 Review

Black Widow #1

Black Widow #1 is the book for a guy like me. I have a thing for female heroines, in this case she is a bit of an Anti-Hero. Natasha is trying to atone for her past by taking out the scum of the earth. Edmondson has done a great job at introducing a Marvel new comer to the black widow. There is plenty of nice action panels, but the writing is the shining element, excuse me, the art is the obvious start because it is truly beautiful but the writing matches it with each stroke. We have Heroine who is doing good but is forced to kill to do so, we can tell she loves her job but in order to do so she has to live this secret life.We get to see her go out on a hit, and we meet Liho the cat, surely a good sign! The story here isn't wild and crazy, but the writer has given us all the meat a new comer is going to need for the future.

With this issue we get the skeleton for what is sure to be a solid run, im not going into too much detail here because i want you all to go read this book, its that good. The art... oh the art.

Night of the Living Deadpool #2 review

Night of the Living Deadpool #2

He's back and hes got a team..... sort of. I was not too thrilled with the first issue but this one was much more fun than the last. It continues to be drawn really well and the story did develop quite nicely. Although much of the character development is short lived, but i dont want to spoil too much for you guys. We get the unlikely team up of Wade, two kids and some guy in a swat suit, oh yeah and some old women but she dies really fast (yeah it was quick and whatever.) We see the team make a fun escape together, and some entertaining convos in the El Camino (How could i forget Wades love for the Camino??!!!! Which is the best part of the issue.) Some decent plot developments were made, and i though we had our supporting cast but that was short lived because

Spoiler Alert.

Everyone dies except for the Pool that is Dead.

I will keep reviewing this title for you guys but as far as my interest goes in it, im out!

3.5/5
Just because i enjoyed the relationship between the supporting cast, but they died so... yeah.

Night of the Living Deadpool #1 Review

Night of the Living Deadpool #1

Its Deadpool! And Zombies! yayyyyyyyy more zombies (sarcasm intended). Although Zombies continue to be a fad, this book was a somewhat fun read. It starts out with typical deadpool passed out in a all you can eat chimichanga restaurant, and wakes up during the zombie Apocalypse.  The book is filled with the typical Deadpool inner dialogue, at times the self banter seems forced. I understand that Deadpool is often satitre, but i wouldn't mind a little less cheap humor. Its exactly what you would think, Deadpool running around chopping off zombies heads and Deadpool talking to himself. I did like how Wade for part of the book is walking around oblivious, Shaun of the Dead style, but i guess people eating each other isn't too much a of a surprise to him, apparently.

The suprising element added was the unexpected team up with a group of kids and a few adults, lets see how long that lasts with the next issue, my guess isn't very long.

The art was the best element, everything is black and white except for Wade, which i really enjoyed and helps set a dark tone to the book, im looking forward to the rest of the run mainly because of this. But overall this was an average read, it was fun but honestly i didn't need a Deadpool zombie book. The writer is going to have to dig much more deep and up the quality of the bad jokes, because i know they will not do with out it. If its going to be there, please make it enjoyable.

Invaders #2 Gods and Soldiers part Two Review

   Invaders 2

Gods and Soldiers part two

All new Invaders number 2 wooooooo! This issue did not dissapoint, im having a blast with this book so far! Bucky and Cap are more of the focus in this issue and the action picks right back up. Bucky is quickly becoming my Green Arrow of the Marvel U, except he definitely is much more bad ass! We get some images from the past, before the team gets back together, and cap is riding the most futuristic sky air bike ive ever seen. Out Invaders continue to fight the hot Kree chick, who exchanges her blow blows with the team back and forth. She eventually flees the scene and my favorite part of the issue is when Jim simply says sorry to the town about destroying it, then just leaves with the team LMAO!!!!

We don't get tooooo much story devlopment here, but we do find out where Namor is, hopefully next issue we get some more Kree ass kicking sessions on their planet, and hopefully subby doesnt have his classic outfit on, for all our sake. The art was also on par with last issue. Im loving this title so far, its not mind blowing and its not the best thing ever, but its plain FUN.

Invaders #1 Gods Soldiers Review

Invaders #1

Gods Soldiers

The Human Torch, The Sub Mariner, The Winter Soldier and Captain America are invading a town near you!!!! Ok let me stop! The all new invaders was exactly what i wanted to read when i picked it up, it was a straight up fun adventure with some interesting twists along the ride. The main focus of this issue was on Jim Hammond the original human torch and his life in middle America, which the happiness doesn't last long because here come the kree!!!!  His fight with a female Kree was very entertaining, i think his town thought so too although they probably weren't as happy to see their town destroyed as much as i did!

Two members are pulled into some bizarr flashback sequence filled with Nazis and guns, and fire, and men in speedos *cough, Namor*, which took place in the past. The rest of the issue is filled with more Kree fighting, which ends with Cap and Bucky coming to save the day.

Ok i breezed through this little review, but i did love it! It was filled with action and really really really well drawn panels and characters, the colors perfectly match the tone of the book for me. The story so far isnt the strongest of the marvel now launches, but i can dig it and i am looking forward to reviewing the next issue.... Bring on more Bucky and Cap please, as much as possible!!!!

Wolverine #1 rogue logan review

Wolverine 1
Rogue Logan

This is my first Wolverine and first x-men related book review! I jumped into the Marvel U with the recent Marven Now releases and im pumped to be reading the new Wolverine as it hits the shelves.

Wolverine has lost his healing factor, oh noooo! At first i thought, what the heck? This is gonna be boring! Logan is gonna just be sitting the background, or teaching at the academy, or he will still be running around beating everyone up with no repercussions, i was wrong! Im intrigued by the writer stripping Wolvey of his powers, it makes this book feel more human than i thought an x-men related title could be. Instead of his body being the indestructible healing factory that it is, Logan has to rely on a special suit to protect him. He gets his butt handed to him more than once in the issue which i love to see, i dislike characters who never get hit or beat on. One thing i am unsure of is, are his claws a part of his suit? I though that his healing factor protected him from the metal poisoning him.

I dig seeing Logan working for the bad guy, i can't wait to find out why later on. The same old good guy chases bad guy stories get a little old so this book is a breath of fresh air for my comic pallet. I feel like the issue was written well, although it didn't captivate me as much as i was hoping, but i guess a Wolverine title doesn't need the deep over analysis that a batman issue needs. The art was stunning throughout, its one of my favorite in the Marvel Now launches so far released. I enjoyed seeing Wolvey using the guns! He kills, which i sometimes have issues with, i have the same issue with the New Punisher. These Anti heroes are growing on me tho.

In the end i really liked the book, the story was strong enough to make me anxious for next month. There was plenty of action, the art was kick ass and slowly but surely im digging the anti heroes of the Marvel U. As a DC man, Marvel Now is really impressing me and im pumped for next month.

Ms. Marvel #1 review

With Marvel NOW releasing tons of new #1's i decided to jump into the Marvel U head first! my First review will me the all new Ms. Marvel #1. My knowledge of Ms. Marvel's past is non existent so this review will be based on only things i have learned from this book.

Marvel now Ms. Marvel #1

Kamala Khan is just like any American teen who isn't one of the "cool" or popular kids. She yearns to be accepted by her peers but coming from a strict Muslim family, her peers tend to use that to poke fun at her constantly. She is naive to her classmates dislike for her and seems to be becoming a bit of a rebel trying to find her way. She writes fan fiction about being an avenger and is a comic nerd like myself, which i found to be quite adorable! That panel was hilarious, depicting the avengers saving planet unicorn, i want that as a poster. I forgot to mention Kamalas love for bacon aka infidel meat!!!!

Her family is a strict Muslim one which i think is going to be awesome to see how her family life affects her in the coming story arc's. It's a breath of fresh air to see a character like this who comes from such a different background. One that isn't about a kid whose parents are murdered, or one who becomes a rich playboy.

The art was stunning, the colors and pencils drew me right in. It is playful and light hearted but it doesn't look cartoony, which i love. My favorite panel is the last page, where we see Ms. Marvel in her new get ups, shes hot!

Go pick this up, i bought myself 3 copies, 2 regular covers autographed by the Comic Book Men from the AMC show over at Jay and Silent Bobs, they also hooked me up with a Variant cover.
